Dirt Bike Trail-Riding Tips
Riding a dirt bike means you have access to off-road adventures, including nature trails that are designed for dirt bike riding. There are some important tips to keep in mind while riding your dirt bike on a trail, however, so that you can be respectful and safe. Here’s what you should do.
1. Wear the Right Gear
Failing to wear the correct safety gear is a common cause of injuries while riding a dirt bike. Make sure you wear a helmet, goggles, gloves, boots, and clothes that will protect your skin without being too loose or drapey.
2. Sit Correctly
The way you ride your dirt bike matters. Your posture should be positioned towards the front of the bike, with your torso leaned forward to keep the dirt bike stable. Extend your elbows out to either side for maximum flexibility and grip the bike with your knees so you don’t have to hang onto the handlebars for dear life. When taking a corner, it can help to extend one leg towards your front wheel for better balance.
3. Abide By the Rules
Every trail will have certain rules and areas that are off-limits. You should never ride off the trail into restricted areas, as this can damage the local flora and fauna. Also, if you go off-route, you may end up hitting an unseen obstacle that causes an accident. Follow all posted signage on the trail, including speed limits, to ensure everyone’s safety.
