How to Maintain Your Dirt Bike
Your dirt bike provides you with a fun and exciting way to go off-road riding by yourself or with friends. However, your dirt bike can only give you a safe and enjoyable riding experience if you keep it maintained. Performing essential upkeep tasks on your dirt bike can help make it safer and easier to ride while also preventing you from ending up in a repair shop with a very messed-up bike.
Clean & Lubricate Your Chains
The chains on your dirt bike help you to shift gears smoothly as you ride, and if they become too gunked up with dirt and other debris, they won’t shift as easily. Keep your chains clean with a good degreaser and then reapply an appropriate chain lubricant to them. Make sure that the lubricant is applied to the entire chain. Also, you should take this opportunity to check the tautness of your chains: you don’t want them to be too loose or too tight.
Check Tire Pressure & Condition
Next, you’ll want to examine both tires of your dirt bike for signs of undue wear that might merit repair or replacement. It’s a terrible idea to ride your bike when the tires are bad. Look for balding spots, cracks in the sidewall, or embedded objects in the treads. Use a tire-pressure gauge to check each tire’s psi level and air them up as needed.
