How to Wash Your Four-Wheeler
Keeping your four-wheeler, also known as an all-terrain vehicle or ATV, in good condition helps to ensure that it’s always ready for off-roading adventures. One thing you may overlook is cleaning your vehicle. Sure, four-wheelers are designed to get dirty, but that doesn’t mean they have to stay that way! A clean four-wheeler is nicer to ride and easier to maintain, so make sure you’re following these steps to wash your vehicle every so often.
1. Pre-Soak & Scrape Mud
You’ll want to park your four-wheeler in an area with good drainage and access to a hose. If the four-wheeler is muddy, run the hose over the whole vehicle and allow the water to soak into and loosen up the mud. A plastic mud scraper can then be used to scrape the wet mud off. Rinse the ATV once more before soaping it up.
2. Add Suds & Scrub
Once you’ve hosed (or pressure-washed) off the visible grime, it’s time to squirt some car-wash soap into a bucket of water and use a sponge or scrub-brush to carefully go over the whole vehicle from handlebars to tires. Try to avoid getting water or soap in the inner workings of the vehicle. If you find oily spots, spray on a degreaser and give it ten minutes to soak before you rinse it away.
3. Rinse & Dry
Use your hose or pressure washer to spray off all the suds and grime. You can either allow your four-wheeler to air-dry in the sun or you can grab a lint-free towel to wipe it down. If you’ve got a leaf-blower or an air-compressor, this can speed up the process.
