Ways to Use a UTV
The utility terrain vehicle, or UTV, has been used for a great variety of different purposes, including both work-focused and recreational riding. UTVs are compact, rugged, and capable of traversing challenging off-road terrain. These features make them perfect for performing many different tasks, some of which we’ve listed below.
1. Pavement Driving
Surprisingly, you can actually operate UTVs on roads in some cases. There are some ways that you can alter your UTV to make it street-legal, which will only increase the number of tasks for which it can be used. Adding lights, road-friendly tires, and other aftermarket accessories allow you to use your UTV on tarmacs, in warehouses, or on rural roads. Be sure to check local laws and regulations to determine if you are able to make your UTV street legal where you live.
2. Construction Jobs
Whether you're working on a public or private construction site, a UTV can make quick work of many tasks. The small size of a UTV allows it to fit into places where a standard vehicle might get stuck. UTVs also come with a high hauling capacity, which allows them to use attachments and have trailers attached to them which can carry heavy payloads of dirt, gravel, sand, and debris.
3. For Hunting
You can't use your UTV as a hunting vehicle, but you can use it to get to your blind deep in the forest. Your UTV can also help you to winch game out of a ditch or make your way around multiple blinds without having to walk through mud and leaves. Your UTV can transport your weapons and your game between your truck and your blind.
3. Doing Landscaping Projects
If you work in landscaping, a UTV is a very practical vehicle to have on hand. As noted above, UTVs have a high towing capacity, which allows them to haul trailers full of mulch, bags of soil, seedlings, and gardening tools. This lets you get around the property more quickly so you can complete your work in an expedient manner.
5. Surveying Property
Do you own a large piece of property, such as a ranch or a farm? Owning a UTV makes it easy to traverse your entire property in significantly less time than it would take you to walk around it. This lets you keep an eye on any buildings or fences that might need repairing, or to monitor and herd livestock. You can also check up on crops without having to walk through each field.
